This 1995 Ferrari 456 GT Pininfarina Speciale is a US-market example and is one of six 456s ordered by the Sultan of Brunei during the model year. According to Road & Track’s January 2018 feature, the car was equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission, repainted in black, and outfitted with black upholstery by Pininfarina in Italy prior to being delivered to Ferrari of Beverly Hills in California, for inclusion in the Sultan’s stateside collection. It is powered by a 5.5-liter F116 V12, and equipment includes 17″ five-spoke alloy wheels, pop-up headlights, fog lights, power-adjustable front seats, revised rear seating, a CD stereo, and automatic climate control. This 456 GT shows 27k miles and is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with build documentation, Pininfarina correspondence,luggage, tools, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.
The Pininfarina-designed aluminum and composite bodywork was finished from the factory in red, and it was repainted in black by Pininfarina. Reflective glass was fitted during that time, although only the reflective rear window has been retained. Exterior features include pop-up headlights, integrated fog lights, and polished quadruple exhaust tips exiting through the rear valance. Silver 17″ five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with Nitto NT555 G2 tires. Self-adjusting dampers and self-leveling rear suspension were standard equipment. Stopping power is provided by Ferrari-branded four-piston brake calipers over ventilated rotors at each corner.
Previously trimmed in beige leather, the cabin was fitted with a revised center console and rear seats prior to being reupholstered in black leather by Pininfarina. The power-adjustable front seats feature Cavallino Rampante logos embossed on the headrests, and additional amenities include a CD stereo, power windows, and automatic climate control.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Veglia Borletti instrumentation including a 200-mph speedometer and a 10k-rpm tachometer. An analog clock and auxiliary gauges are located in the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 27k miles.
The 5.5-liter F116 V12 features four valves per cylinder, Bosch Motronic fuel injection, and dry-sump lubrication. According to documentation included in the gallery, the engine was modified for an output of 442 horsepower by Italtecnica. The car was outfitted with a four-speed automatic transaxle during the build process, approximately two years prior to the gearbox’s availability as a factory option.
