This 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS is said to have been placed into storage in 1981 and remained there until the current owner purchased it in 2015. Showing 2,100 miles, the car is powered by a 2.9-liter quad-cam V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Nero over beige leather upholstery. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 14″ five-spoke alloy wheels, pop-up headlights, a black removable roof panel, a quad-exit exhaust system, a gated shifter, air conditioning, an Alpine cassette stereo, and electric windows. This 308 GTS is offered on dealer consignment with a tool kit, manufacturer’s literature, a Ferrari Classiche Red Book, and a California title.
The hardtop 308 GTB debuted at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, while the targa-top GTS model was introduced at the 1977 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car is finished in Nero and features pop-up headlights, a black removable roof panel, a driver-side mirror, a vented decklid, and quad exhaust outlets. Close-up photographs of the exterior finish and trim are shown in the gallery below.
Silver 14″ five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin XWX tires. The car features a fully independent suspension with double wishbones front and rear, and stopping power is provided by ventilated discs at each corner.
The cockpit features bolstered seats trimmed in beige leather upholstery along with matching door panels. Equipment includes an Alpine AM/FM/cassette stereo, electric windows, air conditioning, and a gated shifter with a dogleg gear pattern.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts Veglia instrumentation, including an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,700-rpm redline, and supplementary gauges. Additional readouts are mounted ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 2,100 miles, a handful of which were added under current ownership.
The mid-mounted 2.9L quad-cam V8 is equipped with four twin-choke Weber 40DCNF carburetors and was factory rated at 237 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. A timing belt service is said to have been last completed in 2015, and the car last passed a California emissions test in May 2024.
The Ferrari Classiche red book contains a certificate listing factory equipment, colors, and a delivery date of March 1980.
There is currently a lien on the car, and the seller’s lender will need to be paid off before the title can be transferred to the new owner.
