This 1998 Ferrari F355 F1 Spider is a left-hand-drive European-market example that was brought to the US and Federalized in 2001 before it was acquired by the current owner. The car subsequently spent time in New York and New Jersey and was offered by the selling dealer on BaT in October 2023, and it now shows 20k miles. Powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC V8 linked with a paddle-shifted six-speed F1 gearbox, the car is finished in Modena Yellow over blue leather. It has a blue soft top, 18″ five-spoke magnesium wheels, pop-up headlights, automatic climate control, and a Pioneer CD stereo. A timing belt service was performed in April 2023, and additional work at that time is said to have included replacing the battery, water pump, thermostat, left radiator, electric fan, and spark plugs. This F355 Spider is now offered on dealer consignment with owner’s manuals, service records, a tool kit, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title in the owner’s name.
The Pininfarina-designed body is finished in Modena Yellow and features a blue convertible top, pop-up headlights, integrated front fog lights, an integrated rear decklid spoiler, quad exhaust outlets, a vented engine cover, and air intakes on the doors and rocker panels. The front bumper cover was repainted under current ownership, and the right fender was refinished in 2023 to address an area of buffer burn-through. There are paint chips in the driver’s door, the convertible top elastic has stretched, and the top requires manual assistance when opening and closing.
The 18″ five-spoke magnesium wheels are mounted with 225/40 front and 265/40 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires showing 2007 and 2008 production codes. Ferrari-branded brake calipers are mounted over ventilated discs at each corner. Work in 2018 is said to have included refinishing the wheels and replacing the wheel bolts.
The cabin is said to have been overhauled in 2015 and features sport seats trimmed in blue leather with yellow contrast stitching along with matching upholstery on the center console, dashboard, and door panel inserts. Additional features include automatic climate control, a Pioneer CD stereo, drilled aluminum pedals, and a yellow-finished steering column. Additional work in 2015 is said to have included installing an upgraded sound system and refinishing sticky buttons. Shrinking leather is noted above the passenger’s airbag.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel is equipped with paddle shifters and frames a 200-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, a gauge for coolant temperature, and a digital gear indicator. Ancillary instruments in the center stack include an analog clock and gauges for fuel level and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 20k miles, approximately 11k of which were added under current ownership. The gear display is said to have been repaired in 2018.
The mid-mounted 3.5-liter DOHC V8 features five valves per cylinder and dry-sump lubrication for a factory-rated output of 375 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. The valve covers were reportedly refinished in 2018. The most recent timing belt service was performed in April 2023, and additional work at that time is said to have included replacing the battery, water pump, thermostat, left radiator, electric fan, and spark plugs.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via an electrohydraulically operated six-speed F1 gearbox. The clutch and flywheel were replaced in 2007. A Tubi Style muffler is said to have been installed.
The New York assigned VIN seen above matches the VIN on the current New Jersey title.
