This 1980 Ferrari 400i is a European-market car that was acquired by the owner approximately 30 years ago. It is powered by a fuel-injected 4.8-liter Colombo V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in metallic light blue over tan leather, the car is equipped with pop-up headlights, fog lights, and 15″ Cromodora five-spoke wheels. The selling dealer states that the vehicle would benefit from cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment. This 400i is now offered as a running project on behalf of the owner at no reserve in Amagansett, New York, with a tool kit, a jack, and a New York title.
The 365 GT4 2+2 was unveiled at the 1972 Paris Motor Show and featured bodywork by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina. It was built through 1976 when it was replaced by the updated 400 model. The cars were not officially offered in the US, though some were imported and federalized in-period via the gray market.
The car is finished in metallic light blue and features pop-up headlights, fog lights, hood louvers, and quad circular taillights. The selling dealer notes that the car appears to have had prior paintwork. Corrosion, paint blemishes, and other exterior wear are shown in the gallery below.
The metric Cromodora five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with older Michelin TRX tires, and a spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with an independent front and rear suspension, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
The front bucket seats and individual rear seats are upholstered in tan leather that extends to the door panels. The dashboard and center console are trimmed in black leather, and the upholstery is separating along the instrument binnacle. Equipment includes pod-mounted vents, woodgrain trim, a central rear armrest, power windows, and air conditioning. Wear is noted on various interior surfaces.
The leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel frames Veglia Borletti instrumentation, including an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 300-km/h speedometer, and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. The center stack houses a quartz clock and gauges for fuel level, oil temperature, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 40k kilometers (~25k miles). The speedometer and the odometer do not work. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.8-liter F101 Colombo quad-cam V12 features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory-rated at 310 horsepower. The selling dealer reports that the car runs and drives, but needs servicing.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The car’s chassis number is F101CL31391. The New York title is a duplicate and omits one of the threes in the VIN for F101CL3191.
