This 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS is one of approximately 2,900 E-series examples produced through July 1974. Chassis 06436 was sold new through Newport Imports of Newport Beach, California, in February 1974 before being acquired by the current owner’s uncle in 1977. It was subsequently purchased by the owner in 1978 and driven until around 1986, when it was reportedly put into storage for the next 39 years. In 2025 the car was brought to the seller’s shop, where it was fitted with a replacement clutch assembly and underwent brake service as well as a tune-up. Finished in Marrone Dino Metallizzato over beige leather, the targa-top coupe is powered by a 2.4-liter V6 equipped with triple Weber carburetors that is mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. It rides on 14″ Cromodora alloy wheels coupled with Koni shocks and ventilated disc brakes at all four corners and is further equipped with a MOMO steering wheel and a gated shifter along with an AM/FM cassette stereo and air conditioning. Now showing 24k miles, this E-series 246 is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with manufacturer’s literature, a tool kit, a jack, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

With bodywork designed by Aldo Brovarone and Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina, the prototype 206 GT first appeared at the 1965 Paris Auto Salon and was followed by revised concepts at the 1966 and 1967 Turin Motor Shows. The 2.0L-powered 206 entered production in early 1968 and was later superseded by the 2.4L-powered 246, which was offered in GT coupe and GTS targa-top variants beginning in 1969 and 1971, respectively.

US-market lighting includes recessed rectangular front turn signals, side markers, and rear reflectors inboard of the taillights. The seller notes a broken latch cover, scratches on the nose, and areas of paint touchup on the decklid. Paint meter readings from around the car are presented in the gallery.

The 14″ Cromodora five-lug alloy wheels wear Dino-branded center caps and are mounted with older 205/70 Michelin XVS tires. A matching spare wheel with a Goodyear tire is stored in the front trunk. The suspension incorporates unequal-length A-arms, coilover Koni shock absorbers, and anti-roll bars at front and rear. Work in August 2025 involved rebuilding the brake calipers and machining the rotors as well as replacing the master cylinder, fluid reservoirs, and hoses.
