This 1982 Ferrari 308 GTSi project was sold new by Ferrari of Los Gatos in California, and it remained registered in the state through the current owner’s acquisition in 2001. The car was repainted in the current shade of yellow around 2005, and it is equipped with a fuel-injected 2.9-liter quad-cam V8 that currently has coolant contamination in the oil. Additional details include a five-speed manual transaxle, a limited-slip differential, 390mm Cromodora alloy wheels, a removable roof panel, pop-up headlights, a quad-exit exhaust system, a gated shifter, and electric windows. This 308 GTSi is a non-driving project that shows 81k miles, and it is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner’s estate with a stamped service booklet, a tool roll, manufacturer’s literature, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

Previously finished in burgundy, the car was repainted in the current shade of yellow with red, green, and white over-the-top stripes and rocker panel accents circa 2005. Features a black removable roof panel, pop-up headlights, dual side mirrors, a vented decklid, and quad exhaust outlets. The headlights raise and lower, but the headlights and turn signals function intermittently. The power antenna motor functions, but the aerial does not raise or lower. Paint cracks are noted at the rear portion of the hood, and additional photos of the paint and trim condition are viewable in the gallery below.

The cockpit features bolstered seats trimmed in tan leather upholstery along with matching door panels. Equipment includes a Kenwood CD stereo, electric windows, and a gated shifter with a dogleg gear pattern. The seller notes that the upholstery on the removable roof panel and rear window shelf has been replaced. The air conditioning does not blow cold, the power windows function slowly, discoloration is noted on the right door panel, and there is a separation in the leather on the left headrest.

The leather-wrapped Nardi steering wheel fronts Veglia instrumentation including an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,700-rpm redline, and supplementary gauges. Additional readouts are mounted ahead of the shifter. The six-digit odometer shows 81k miles.

The mid-mounted 2.9L quad-cam V8 is equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. The seller tells us that coolant contamination in the oil was discovered circa 2023, and they were informed it was the result of a failed freeze plug in one of the cylinder heads. The timing belt is said to have been replaced circa 2020. A cold start video is shown in the gallery below, but the seller notes the car should not be driven before the issue is addressed.
