This 2018 Ferrari 488 Challenge is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 linked to a seven-speed F1 dual-clutch gearbox with an electronic limited-slip differential and is finished in Rosso Corsa over a race-prepped cockpit. Equipment includes a Challenge-specific aerodynamics package, Brembo calipers, 19″ Motegi Racing center-lock wheels, an air jack system, a VBOX camera and data acquisition system, a Motorola radio system, and a roll cage as well as a Sabelt steering wheel, carbon-fiber race seats, and six-point harnesses. The car was reportedly primarily used for high-performance-driving events and raced twice by Scuderia 1999/MG1 Motorsports before it was sold on BaT in September 2024 and has since been stored. This 488 Challenge race car has 7,200 kilometers (~4,500 miles) and is now offered by the selling dealer at no reserve in Florida with a clean Montana title.
The 488 Challenge was introduced in December 2016 before its on-track debut in 2017 as the sixth model to compete in Ferrari’s single-make racing series. This example left the factory finished in Rosso Corsa and wears vinyl sponsorship decals and a #14 on the upper portion of the windshield. The aerodynamics package includes a front splitter, canards, and brake cooling ducts as well as side skirts, a rear diffuser, and an adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing. A crack in the passenger side mirror housing and paint blemishes can be viewed up close in the gallery below.
Black 19″ Motegi Racing center-lock wheels wear 275/675 front and 315/705 rear Pirelli slicks, and it is equipped with a tire-pressure monitoring system. The ABS and traction-control systems can be adjusted via dials on the dash and steering wheel. The car is equipped with an air jack system, and braking is handled by Brembo discs with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.
A roll cage with safety nets surrounds Sabelt fixed-back carbon-fiber race seats with red multi-point harnesses. A rear-view camera is connected to a dashboard-mounted display, and additional details include an Alcantara-lined dashboard, a carbon-fiber center console, air conditioning, a Motorola radio system, and a Racelogic VBOX camera and data acquisition system.
The Formula-style steering wheel is mounted to a quick-release hub ahead of carbon-fiber shift paddles and features LED shift lights along with driver switchgear and controls that complement those found on the carbon-fiber center stack. The configurable digital display incorporates a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, a gear position indicator, a speedometer, and a lap timer as well as an odometer that indicates 7,200 kilometers (~4,500 miles).
Derived from the powerplant in the contemporary 488 GTB, the twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter Tipo F154 V8 used in the 488 Challenge is equipped with a lightened exhaust system as well as specially tuned engine management software for a factory-rated output of 661 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a short-ratio seven-speed F1 dual-clutch gearbox with Challenge-specific shift programming and an electronic limited-slip differential.
Two fuel jugs and two extra sets of wheels, one mounted with tires, are included.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.
