This 2020 Ferrari 488 Challenge was campaigned in the Ferrari Challenge North America series and wears adjustable aerodynamic EVO bodywork finished in black. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.9L V8 paired with a seven-speed F1 dual-clutch transaxle, it also has Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, 19” Motegi Racing center-lock wheels, a lightweight exhaust, and a fire-suppression system. Its race-prepped interior is equipped with a pair of carbon-fiber bucket seats, Sabelt multi-point harnesses, a roll cage, a DSA race connectivity gateway (RCG) system, a push-to-drink system, and air conditioning. Recently acquired by the current owner, this 488 Challenge Evo race car is now offered on dealer consignment in Pompano Beach, Florida, with a set of spare wheels, a copy of a Ferrari Certificate of Origin, and a South Carolina title.

The 488 Challenge was introduced in 2017 as the sixth model to compete in Ferrari’s single-make racing series. The revised EVO specification was unveiled in 2019 with upgraded aerodynamics that allow the ability to adjust the front aero load independently of the rear load to help optimize balance.

The black finish is contrasted with tricolore over-the-top stripes, and 2020 inspection stickers from Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta are affixed on the left side. Further exterior details include Lexan side windows with a sliding opening on the left as well as a Lexan hatch/engine cover, a rain light, and dual quick-fill fuel fittings. A dent is noted along the adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing in addition to various chips in the finish. The seller tells us that the car was involved in a rear-end collision in 2021 that resulted in replacement of the subframe followed by refinishing of the quarter panels and rear valance.

Center-lock 19″ Motegi Racing forged alloy wheels are finished in black and mounted with 275/675 front and 315/705 rear Pirelli tires. Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers are matched with carbon-ceramic discs. The ABS and traction-control systems can be adjusted via dials on the dash and steering wheel, and EVO trim included remapping of the E-Diff3, F1-TCS control, and Side Slip Control (SSC) systems. Flaws on the wheels are shown in the gallery, as are a set of four included spare wheels.

The cockpit houses a roll cage with OMP safety nets as well as Sabelt fixed-back carbon-fiber race seats and red multi-point harnesses. A rearview camera is connected to a dash-mounted display, and additional details include an Alcantara-lined dashboard, air conditioning, a push-to-drink system, and a DSA race connectivity gateway (RCG) system. The fire extinguisher expired in 2022.

The Formula-style steering wheel is mounted to a quick-release hub ahead of carbon-fiber shift paddles, and it features LED shift lights along with driver switchgear and controls that complement those found on the carbon-fiber center stack. The configurable digital display incorporates a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, a gear position indicator, a speedometer, and a lap timer as well as an odometer that indicates 11k kilometers (~7k miles).

Derived from the powerplant in the contemporary 488 GTB, the twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter Tipo F154 V8 used in the 488 Challenge is equipped with a lightened exhaust system as well as specially tuned engine management software for a factory-rated output of 661 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. Ignition components were replaced in 2021, at which time the car was last on track, and the seller notes that oil is seeping from the turbochargers.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a short-ratio seven-speed F1 dual-clutch transaxle, which features Challenge-specific shift programming as well as an electronic limited-slip differential.

A seller-provided copy of the Ferrari Certificate of Origin lists the car as a 2020 model that left the factory in Challenge specification and notes that it was delivered new to Symbol Cars Inc. of Houston, Texas, on October 25, 2019.
The South Carolina title carries an “Actual Mileage” brand.
