This 1956 Peugeot 403 is a European-market model that was featured in the 2023 film Ferrari, and it has since remained in northern Italy. Finished in green over two-tone gray vinyl upholstery, the car is powered by a 1,468cc inline-four fitted with a single Solex carburetor. Gear changes are through a column-shifted four-speed manual transmission, and further equipment includes Jaeger gauges, drum brakes, and cream-finished 15” steel wheels. Recently acquired by the selling dealer, this 403 is now offered in Italy with Spanish ownership documents.

Introduced in 1955, the 403 was styled by Pininfarina and became the first Peugeot to exceed 1,000,000 units produced. Early models featured a stylized lion-head hood ornament, and this example is finished in green.

Cream-finished 15” steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and are wrapped in 165-series Michelin XZX tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.

The cabin features individual front seats, a rear bench, and door panels trimmed in two-tone gray vinyl. Three-point seatbelts are provided for front occupants. The steering column cover is cracked.

The two-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring with a rampant-lion center cap and frames Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 150-km/h speedometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 28k kilometers (~17k miles), approximately 100 of which have been added under current ownership.

A lever-actuated hydraulic cylinder is mounted in the left-rear footwell and operates the rear brakes. The selling dealer reports that the assembly is tied into the existing brake lines, and the factory brake system is retained.

The 1,468cc inline-four is equipped with a single Solex downdraft carburetor. An in-line fuel filter has been added, and the selling dealer tells us that maintenance was most recently performed in 2022.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted four-speed manual transmission.

Correspondence from the production company Welcome to Italy srl documents the car’s use in the movie under chassis number 6260.

Body number 6260 appears above the chassis tag, which lists type code 403 and order number 2056271. The vehicle is being sold with Spanish ownership documents that list the body number—6260—as the VIN.
