This 1982 Ferrari 400i is said to have been custom-ordered by its first owner at the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy. It was imported to the US in 1982 and federalized by Amerispec in Danbury, Connecticut, where it was reportedly tested by Car and Driver and featured in their December 1982 issue. The car was acquired by the current owner on BaT in April 2020, and over $45k of subsequent work included overhauling the rear differential and rebuilding the water pump, starter, and steering column switch as well as replacing the cam cover gaskets, front crankshaft seal, right fuel tank, right window regulator cable, engine mounts, tie rods, drive belts, and assorted suspension, braking, and electrical components. Finished in Grigio Scuro Metallizzato over a Rosso leather interior, the car is powered by a fuel-injected 4.8-liter V12 mated to a five-speed manual transmission. This 400i is now offered at no reserve by the selling dealer in California with manufacturer’s literature, recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Arizona title.

Unveiled at the 1972 Paris Motor Show as the successor to the 365 GTC/4, the 365 GT4 2+2 featured bodywork by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina and was built through 1976, when it was replaced by the updated 400 model. The cars were not officially offered in the US, though some were imported and federalized in-period via the gray market. The Pininfarina-designed bodywork is finished in Grigio Scuro Metallizzato and features pop-up quad headlights, fog lights, hood louvers, quad circular taillights, a black taillight panel, black bumpers, Pininfarina badging, and quad exhaust outlets. The black Euro-specification bumpers were reinforced and moved outward 2″ as part of the US federalization process. A headlight relay was replaced in 2022. Bubbles are present on the lower portion of the right door, and photos of the paint and trim condition are viewable in the gallery below.
