This Ferrari V12 Colombo engine is said to have been removed from a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE, and the 3.0-liter Tipo 128/F motor was rebuilt between 2016 and 2017. Work involved overhauling the cylinder heads, replacing the main and rod bearings, balancing the crankshaft, and installing Ross Racing forged pistons along with Ferrea Racing Components valves. The engine retains Ferrari-branded valve covers, intake manifolds, a water pump, a flywheel, and clutch components. Uninstalled equipment includes triple Weber 36 DCS carburetors with individual air cleaners as well as exhaust manifolds, dual distributors, twin Magneti Marelli ignition coils, a mechanical fuel pump, a generator, and a starter. The seller notes that the engine has not been utilized since the rebuild was completed. This Colombo V12 is now offered in California by the seller on behalf of the owner with spare parts and a bill of sale.

Ferrari produced various iterations of the Colombo V12 engine from 1947 through 1988. The Tipo 128 V12 displaces 2,953cc with a bore of 73mm and a stroke of 58.8mm in stock form. It features an aluminum block and aluminum cylinder heads with spark plugs positioned on the outer side of each bank as well as coil valve springs and individual intake ports.

The bore of this example was reportedly increased to 73.5mm, at which time Ross Racing forged pistons were installed and the main and connecting rod bearings were replaced. The cylinder heads were overhauled in May 2017 by Cardelli Motorsports of San Mateo, California, and were fitted with Ferrea Racing Components valves along with custom seats and guides. The crankshaft was balanced, the rocker arm bushings were replaced with needle bearings, and a roller link timing chain was also installed.

Ferrari-branded valve covers have been retained along with intake manifolds, twin oil filters, and a water pump, the latter of which was overhauled. The flywheel has been resurfaced, and a replacement clutch and pressure plate assembly are installed.

A set of three Weber 36 DCS carburetors with individual chrome-plated air cleaners and a linkage will accompany the engine. Among the uninstalled components are heat-coated exhaust manifolds, dual distributors and caps, twin Magneti Marelli ignition coils, coolant pipes, a mechanical fuel pump, a generator, a starter, and a fuel rail. Various gaskets, spark plugs, ignition wires, and a dipstick are also present.

The block is stamped with codes 3855 and 510/62 E.

The included Tipo 508 gearbox is said to have been sourced from a 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Boano Coupe and features four forward gears and reverse. The factory offset shift mount has been relocated to its central axis, and retained equipment includes an uninstalled shift lever, a bell housing, a clutch release lever, and a throw-out bearing.

The tail housing is stamped 133/DH and 7/32, and additional casting marks are pictured in the gallery.
