Believe It or Not, 90% of All Ferraris Are Still on the Road
Ferrari has revealed an impressive statistic: 90% of all its cars ever produced are still in use today.
Andrea Scioletti, the head of Ferrari’s pre-owned program, shared the news with members of the media during an event in Maranello earlier this week. According to Scioletti, the iconic Italian automaker has worked hard to ensure that its cars not only retain their value but remain roadworthy long after they leave the factory.
The number may surprise some, as Ferrari isn’t always associated with reliability in the traditional sense. However, when you consider that many of these high-performance vehicles end up as “garage queens”—rarely driven and often kept for collectors’ value—the statistic becomes more understandable.
“More than 90% of all Ferraris produced—over 300,000 cars—are still on the road,” Scioletti told the media, as reported by Australia’s Drive. He also noted that for many customers, the pre-owned market serves as the gateway to owning a Ferrari. To support this, Ferrari has developed several programs designed to preserve the longevity and driving experience of their vehicles.
Ferrari’s commitment to keeping its cars on the road is evident through its various initiatives. The company offers an unlimited-mileage warranty on nearly every new car it produces, and it even provides brand-new parts for its classic models. Scioletti highlighted the role of the Ferrari Approved program, which restores used Ferraris to factory condition. Cars that are 16 years old (or have over 75,000 miles) can still be covered by a warranty for up to 24 months, ensuring that even older models continue to perform at their best.
This 90% figure is among the highest in the industry. To put it into perspective, it’s estimated that around 80% of all Toyota cars sold over 20 years ago are still on the road. Porsche, another brand known for durability, boasts around 70% of its cars still in use. Of course, both Toyota and Porsche have been in the car-making business for much longer than Ferrari, making the Italian brand’s achievement all the more impressive.
Ultimately, Ferrari’s message is clear: “A Ferrari is forever.” And with its commitment to preserving the brand’s legacy, it seems that for many Ferrari owners, that statement couldn’t be truer.
