This 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS is finished in red over Nero leather and is powered by a 2.9-liter quad-cam V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. It underwent refurbishment work between 2015 and 2016 that included repainting the body, overhauling the interior, and replacing the clutch disc. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 14″ five-spoke alloy wheels, a removable roof panel, pop-up headlights, a quad-exit exhaust system, electronic ignition, air conditioning, a gated shifter, and electric windows. The car was acquired by the seller in 2018 and was serviced in January 2025 with replacement timing belts, tensioners, and camshaft seals. This 308 GTS shows 30k miles and is offered on dealer consignment with service records and a clean North Carolina title.
The hardtop 308 GTB debuted at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, while the targa-top GTS model was introduced at the 1977 Frankfurt Motor Show. This GTS example left the factory finished in Rosso Chiaro, and it was repainted during refurbishment work performed between 2015 and 2016. Exterior features include a black removable roof panel, pop-up headlights, dual side mirrors, a vented decklid, and quad exhaust outlets.
Silver 14″ five-spoke alloy wheels were reconditioned in 2015 and are mounted with 205/70 Michelin XWX tires. The car features a fully independent suspension with double wishbones front and rear, and stopping power is provided by ventilated discs at each corner. Work during the aforementioned refurbishment included rebuilding the steering rack, left brake caliper, and shocks as well as replacing the upper and lower ball joints and front wheel bearings.
The cockpit features bolstered seats and matching door panels that were reupholstered in Nero leather upholstery during the refurbishment. Equipment includes air conditioning, a cassette stereo, electric windows, and a gated shifter with a dogleg gear pattern. The carpeting was also replaced. The passenger window switch on the driver door is inoperative.
The leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel fronts Veglia instrumentation including a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,700-rpm redline, and supplementary gauges. Additional readouts are mounted ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 30k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The mid-mounted 2.9L quad-cam V8 is equipped with four twin-choke Weber 40DCNF carburetors and was factory rated at 237 horsepower. The carburetors were rebuilt in 2015, while the rear main seal and oil pan gasket were replaced in 2016. An electronic ignition and a replacement exhaust system were installed in 2020. Service totaling over $13k in January 2025 is detailed on invoices provided in the gallery and involved adjusting the valves, performing fluid changes, and replacing the timing belts, tensioners, and camshaft seals.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The clutch and the gearbox pan gaskets were replaced in 2016, and the clutch linkage was adjusted in June 2020.
