This 1979 Ferrari 400 Automatic i was imported to the US in 1979, and it was acquired by the selling dealer as a running project in 2025. The car is powered by a 4.8-liter Colombo quad-cam V12 that is equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and linked to a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in blue over tan leather, the car is equipped with hood louvers, quad taillights, independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes, and 15″ Cromodora five-spoke wheels. Interior and exterior wear are shown in the gallery, and the selling dealer states that vehicle systems should be serviced before use. This 400 Automatic i is now offered at no reserve with a clean New York title.
Unveiled at the 1972 Paris Motor Show as the successor to the 365 GTC/4, the 365 GT4 2+2 featured bodywork by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina and was built through through 1976 when it was replaced by the updated 400 model. The cars were not officially offered in the US, though some were imported and federalized in-period via the gray market.
The Pininfarina-designed bodywork is finished in blue metallic and features hood louvers, quad circular taillights, a black taillight panel, black bumpers, Pininfarina badging, and quad exhaust outlets. Rust, paint blemishes, and exterior wear are shown in the gallery below. The front splash panel is missing and the pop-up headlights are inoperable.
Five-lug Cromodora 15″ five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 215/70 Michelin XWX tires, and a spare tire is located in the trunk. The car features an independent front and rear suspension, and stopping power is provided by discs at all four corners.
The front bucket and individual rear seats are upholstered in tan leather and are accented by color-coordinated door panels along with a black dashboard, center console, and carpets. Factory equipment included pod-mounted vents atop the dash, a central rear armrest, power windows, and air conditioning. Noted flaws include cracking in the upholstery, a sagging headliner, and damage to the dashboard. Wear throughout the interior is depicted in the gallery.
The leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel frames Veglia Borletti instrumentation including an 8k-rpm tachometer accompanied by a 180-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. A quartz clock and gauges for fuel level, oil temperature, and amperage are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 41k miles.
The 4.8-liter F101 Colombo quad-cam V12 is equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 310 horsepower. The selling dealer reports that the car runs and drives but all vehicle systems should be checked prior to operation.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
