This 1986 Ferrari 412 was ordered new by a marque collector, who specified Blu Chiaro paintwork and a five-speed manual transmission. The car was delivered through Auto La Rotonda SpA in Florence, Italy, and it was shortly thereafter brought to the US, Federalized, and CARB certified for registration in California. It now shows 64k miles following its purchase by the current owner in July 2015. Power is from a 4.9-liter Colombo quad-cam V12 with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, and equipment includes a limited-slip differential, four-wheel independent suspension, anti-lock disc brakes, 415mm five-spoke alloy wheels, front bucket seats, individual rear seats, Blu Connolly leather upholstery, a central rear armrest, power windows, a Harman Kardon radio, and dual-zone climate control with front and rear air conditioning. The tires, front shocks, and coolant hoses have been replaced recently. This 412 was featured in the May 2001 issue of Forza magazine and is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with the owner’s manual, service records, literature, a tool kit, screenshots of correspondence from Marcel Massini, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The 412 replaced the 400i and featured body-color bumpers in addition to a revised front spoiler, sill panels, and deck lid.
The Pinfinarina-designed body of this example was finished from the factory in Blu Chiaro (503), and the car was repainted in that color by Bobileff Motorcar Company in San Diego, California. It features pop-up quad headlights, fog lights, hood louvers, quad circular taillights, a body-color taillight panel, Pininfarina badging, and quad exhaust outlets.
The 415mm five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin TRX tires that were mounted in preparation for the sale, and a spare tire is located in the trunk. The car features independent front and rear suspension with a self-leveling mechanism out back, and stopping power is provided by anti-lock discs at all four corners. The front shocks were recently replaced.
The front bucket and individual rear seats are upholstered in Blu Connolly leather and are accented by color-coordinated door panels along with a black dashboard, center console, and carpets. Interior amenities include a central rear armrest, power windows, a Harman Kardon radio, and dual-zone climate control with front and rear air conditioning. The air-conditioning system requires an annual recharge, per the selling dealer, and the power-adjustable seats work intermittently.
The MOMO steering wheel frames a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. A quartz clock and further auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles.
The 4.9-liter F101 Colombo quad-cam V12 is equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. Work in October 2024 included annual fluids services as well as replacing the coolant hoses.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The sale includes a May 2001 issue of Forza magazine in which this car was featured. Correspondence from Marcel Massini and service records are also shown in the gallery below.
The Ferrari serial plate is shown above, and the number ZFFYD25B000063321 matches the Washington State Assigned Identification Number.
The car also carries a Vehicle Emission Control Information label and a California Bureau of Automotive Repair label, both of which are shown above. The car most recently passed a California emissions check in July 2023.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage.
