The GTS Turbo and its fixed-roof counterpart, the GTB Turbo, were launched as turbocharged 2.0-liter variants of the 328 GTS for the Italian market in 1986 to avoid duties on vehicles displacing over 2.0 liters. The cars featured a revised nose and tail section compared to its predecessor, the 208 GTS Turbo, in addition to a revised engine lid cover to accommodate the top-mount intercooler, NACA ducts ahead of each rear wheel, and five exhaust air slots in the rear valance panel.
