This 1979 Ferrari 308 GT4 was acquired by the current owner in 2010 and subsequently underwent a re-paint in black, an interior refresh, and mechanical service as part of a refurbishment completed over the next 15 years of ownership. The car is finished in black over red Connolly leather and is powered by a 2.9-liter V8 linked with a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. It rides on 14×7.5″ Campagnolo wheels paired with Koni shocks at each corner and features a sunroof, retractable headlights, and side air intakes. Inside, 2+2 seating is accompanied by a Nardi steering wheel and a dogleg-pattern gated shifter. The engine is fitted with quad Weber carburetors as well as an ANSA exhaust system, and further equipment includes a Clarion stereo, air conditioning, and power windows. Now showing 64k miles, this 308 GT4 is offered at no reserve by the seller in Las Vegas, Nevada, on behalf of the owner with a tool kit, service records, and a New York State title in the owner’s name.
The Bertone-designed bodywork was repainted black under current ownership in 2012. The car features a sunroof, retractable headlights, Vitaloni mirrors, side air intakes, chrome trim, and tinted glass. The bumpers were repainted in 2015, while work in 2021 involved repairing the front grille mounts as well coating the underside of the front clip and the sunroof channel with POR15. The headlamp and taillamp bulbs have been retrofitted with LED units.
The car rides on an independent suspension with Koni shocks, and stopping power is provided by ventilated discs at each corner. The rear brake calipers were rebuilt in 2011, the shocks were rebuilt in 2021, and the steering rack and various suspension components disassembled, cleaned, and refurbished as part of an overhaul completed in 2023. The 14″ silver-finished Campagnolo five-spoke wheels were mounted with 205/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in preparation for the sale.
The cabin features 2+2 seating upholstered in red Connolly leather, and color-coordinated trim extends to the center console as well as the door and side panels. Amenities include a Clarion AM/FM cassette stereo as well as air conditioning and power windows. Work in 2014 involved re-dying the leather center console and seat upholstery as well as the carpets in addition to fitting Dynamat sound deadening on the floor and rear firewall. A replacement fusebox sourced from Cowboy Motors was installed in 2021, and the air conditioning system was recharged in preparation for the sale in 2025.
The leather-wrapped Nardi steering wheel is paired with a dogleg-pattern gated shifter. Veglia Borletti instrumentation consists of an 80-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7,750-rpm redline along with an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, oil temperature, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles, approximately 12k of which have been added under current ownership.
The transverse 2.9-liter DOHC V8 was equipped with quad Weber 40 DCNF carburetors for a factory rating of 215 horsepower. The timing belts were replaced, a PerTronix ignition was added, an upgraded water pump from Scuderia Rampante was installed, and the carburetors were rebuilt in 2011. Work in 2025 has involved performing a timing belt service, installing an upgraded radiator fan, and replacing the distributor caps and rotors along with the accessory belts.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The axles were refurbished in 2010 at approximately 55k miles, and the gearbox fluid was last changed in 2017 at just over 59k miles. The installed ANSA exhaust system was refinished black in 2011. The seller tells us that sections of the chassis were seam-sealed and bedliner material was applied to the underside in 2014, while various parts of the underbody were painted with POR15 in 2023.
