Luigi Chinetti Motors removed this Ferrari Tipo 251 engine from a Euro 1971 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder, chassis 14605, when it was imported from Switzerland to the United States in 1976. A US-specification engine was installed in place of this engine, stamped numero interno 1264, and Richard “Dick” DeBiasse of Dark Horse Motors acquired the engine for his collection thereafter. An induction setup consisting of Weber 40 DCN 21 carburetors, linkages, and intake manifolds is included, as well as four Euro exhaust headers and Magneti Marelli S85F distributors and stands. Additionally, six cylinder heads are included: a pair of US-spec heads, a pair of Euro-spec heads, and a set consisting of one Euro-spec head and one US-spec head. Two crankshafts, camshafts, cam covers, valve springs, Wiseco forged pistons, connecting rods, bearings, an oil sump, a front cover, a starter motor, and studs and fasteners are also included. An AP Racing clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate round out the collection. This Tipo 251 engine project is offered at no reserve in Costa Mesa, California.

Marque expert Michael Sheehan of Ferraris Online walks through the history and condition of the engine in the video provided below.
