1986 Ferrari 328 GTS Project

This 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS is a running, non-driving project that was acquired in Florida by the current owner in 2016. Work under current ownership is said to have included replacement of the clutch along with the steering rack, battery, fuel pump, spark plugs, and tires. Finished in Rosso Corsa over beige leather upholstery, the car is powered by a fuel-injected 3.2-liter V8 linked with a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes concave 16″ Speedline five-spoke alloy wheels, a gated shifter, and an Alpine cassette stereo. This 328 GTS project is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the owner’s name.

The Pininfarina-designed body is finished in Rosso Corsa (300) and features a removable black roof panel. Additional exterior details include pop-up headlights, integrated fog lights, side air intakes, dual side mirrors, a black spoiler mounted over the rear window, and quad exhaust tips exiting through the rear valance. Staggered-width concave 16″ Speedline five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with Firestone Firehawk AS tires that show 2021 production codes. The steering rack was replaced in 2022. The brakes are inoperative, and repairs will be needed before road use.

The bucket seats are trimmed in beige leather and are complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. An Alpine CD stereo has been installed. The center defrost vents are broken, the leather is splitting on the black door panel accents, the driver-side floor mat is missing, the rearview mirror has been removed, and the right window regulator does not work.

A three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel is paired with a dogleg-pattern gated shifter and frames Veglia instrumentation consisting of a 180-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. Gauges for oil temperature and fuel level are mounted in the center of the dashboard along with an analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 84k miles, approximately 700 of which were added under current ownership. The ignition switch cylinder is cracked, and the headlight switch requires service, per the seller.

The mid-mounted 3.2-liter Type F105 V8 features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and four valves per cylinder. Factory-rated output was 260 horsepower and 213 lb-ft of torque. The cam seal cap was repaired, and the battery, fuel pump, and spark plugs were replaced in 2022. The timing belt is over 10 years old and should be replaced, per the seller, and the air filter will also need replacement. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The seller tells us that the clutch was replaced in February 2022.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other reported damage from an initial entry in May 1989 through the most recent update in June 2018. There is a gap in entries between May 1989 and September 1999.
