This 1982 Ferrari Mondial 8 is said to have sat for approximately 10 years before being acquired by the current owner as a non-running project in 2022. The car is finished in yellow and features pop-up headlights, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, and 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels as well as a power sunroof and windows. Inside, bucket seats trimmed in worn black leather are accompanied by a MOMO steering wheel, a gated shifter, and an Alpine stereo. The non-running 2.9-liter F106B V8 is linked with a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Work under current ownership is noted to have involved changing the timing belts as well as replacing various fuel and ignition system components, though further electrical repairs are said to be required. Now showing 48k miles, this Mondial 8 is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner at no reserve with an owner’s manual and a clean Virginia title in the owner’s name.
The Pininfarina-styled bodywork left the factory finished in Giallo (102) and was repainted under previous ownership. Details include a power sunroof, pop-up headlights, front fog lights, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, side air intakes, and quadruple exhaust outlets along with black lower bodywork and bumpers. The seller notes rust on the corners of the rocker panels as well as around the rear wheel arches.
The 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels have been powder-coated and are mounted with a mixed set of tires measuring 205/55 up front and 225/50 out back. Braking is handled by four-wheel vented discs.
The four-place cabin features seats trimmed in black leather as well as a color-coordinated lower dashboard, center console, and door trim. Interior features include an Alpine AM/FM cassette stereo, power windows, and three-point seatbelts. A switch panel connected to the ignition system and fuel pump is installed below the dash. The car retains air conditioning equipment, though the system is inoperative. Tears are visible in the seat upholstery, and the horn does not work.
The split-spoke MOMO steering wheel is paired with a dogleg-pattern gated shifter. Veglia Borletti instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7,800-rpm redline as well as a digital clock and gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 48k miles.
The transverse 2.9-liter F106B V8 features two valves per cylinder, aluminum construction, two overhead camshafts per cylinder bank, and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. The seller states that the engine has not run since 2014. Recent work is said to have involved replacing the timing belts, draining and flushing the fuel tank, and replacing the fuel pump and accumulator.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential.
An owner’s manual and other model literature will accompany the car.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage from its first entry in February 1985.
