This 1968 Ferrari 330 GTS is one of 100 examples built during two years of production and was delivered new to casino magnate and West Coast Ferrari importer William F. Harrah, who subsequently had it converted to a custom targa configuration. Chassis 10913 was given by Harrah to his then-wife, singer-songwriter Bobbie Gentry, in 1969 before being purchased in 1973 by a Colorado owner who retained the car for nearly 40 years. Under subsequent ownership, it was returned to spider form before receiving a repaint in its original shade of silver. Power is provided by a 4.0-liter Colombo V12 that is topped by triple Weber carburetors and is paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional features include servo-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension, 14” Borrani wire wheels, a black convertible top, red leather interior upholstery, air conditioning, power windows, and a Blaupunkt radio. Purchased by the selling dealer in 2016, this 330 GTS is now offered with a Ferrari Classiche Red Book issued in September 2024, owner’s manuals, a copy of a 1969 issue of Road & Track featuring the car on its cover, and a California title.
The 330 GTS was introduced at the 1966 Paris Motor Show seven months after the fixed-roof 330 GTC debuted in Geneva. With the exception of its convertible top, the spider variant shared its styling with its fixed-roof counterpart, including a 500 Superfast-inspired front fascia and a rounded rear profile borrowed from the 275 GTS. Details include split front and rear bumpers, front fender vents, a driver-side mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, and quad ANSA exhaust outlets.
This example’s 1969 conversion to targa configuration included the addition of a stainless-steel roll hoop that bolted to the convertible top attachment points and carried a sloped Perspex rear window. The targa-style modifications were removed under previous ownership before a repaint in Argento in 2015. A black canvas convertible top was fitted at that time. The majority of the listing photos were taken in January 2024, prior to the car receiving a detailing service by I Am Detailing in Costa Mesa, California, in July 2024.
Chrome Borrani wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and are wrapped in 205VR14 Michelin XWX tires, while a matching spare housed in the trunk wears Dunlop rubber. Stopping is handled by servo-assisted disc brakes with three-piston calipers at each corner.
The cabin is outfitted in red leather over seating for two with matching upholstery over the door panels and black trim over the console, dash, and door caps. The seats were re-dyed during a July 2024 detailing service, which was performed after the majority of the listing photos were taken. Additional features include red carpeting, wood dash trim, a gated shifter, a lockable glovebox, air conditioning, power windows, and a Blaupunkt push-button radio. The high-beam switch and ignition switch were repaired in December 2023.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Veglia Borletti instrumentation including a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, and gauges monitoring oil pressure, oil temperature, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 27k miles, approximately 175 of which have been added under current ownership. The tachometer was replaced in 2024. Additional instruments at center dash include a fuel-level gauge, a clock, and an ammeter.
The 4.0-liter Tipo 209 V12 incorporates single overhead camshafts, triple Weber carburetors, twin Marelli distributors, and dual oil coolers. The engine was reportedly resealed prior to the selling dealer’s purchase.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a torque tube and a rear-mounted five-speed manual transaxle. Four-wheel independent suspension incorporates double wishbones, coil springs, and tubular shock absorbers all around.
The title is marked as “transfer only.”
