This European-market 1978 Ferrari 308 GTB was sold new in Milan, Italy, and spent much of its time in the country before it was imported to the US in 2015. It is finished in red over tan leather upholstery and is powered by a dry-sump 2.9-liter quad-cam V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 14″ five-spoke alloy wheels, pop-up headlights, a quad-exit exhaust system, a gated shifter, and electric windows. This 308 GTB was acquired by the selling dealer in 2025 and is now offered in New York with a Marcel Massini report, a tool kit, factory literature, service records, and a clean Ohio title.
The 308 GTB was introduced at the 1975 Paris Motor Show and featured Pininfarina-styled bodywork. This one is finished in red and has a driver-side mirror, a vented decklid, pop-up headlights, and quad exhaust outlets. Paintwork was performed on the doors and louvers in 2016, and related invoices are provided in the gallery below. Blemishes are also shown in the gallery.
Silver 14″ five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 205/70 Michelin XWX tires. The car features a fully independent suspension with double wishbones front and rear, and stopping power is provided by ventilated discs at each corner. The wheels were refinished in 2016 and the control arm bushings were replaced in 2020.
The cockpit features bolstered seats trimmed in beige leather upholstery along with matching door panels. Equipment includes a cassette stereo, electric windows, and a gated shifter with a dogleg gear pattern. The air conditioning system was recharged in 2020. The seats are worn.
The leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel fronts Veglia instrumentation including a 280-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,700-rpm redline, and and Italian-language gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. An analog clock and an oil-temperature gauge are housed in the left side of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 84k kilometers (~52k miles). The odometer and speedometer work intermittently, and total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter F106 quad-cam V8 was equipped with a dry-sump lubrication system for the European market and made approximately 250 horsepower when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The battery was replaced in 2023, and an oil change was most recently performed in September 2024.
