Girard-Perregaux crafted this automatic watch in 1997 to accompany one of the 349 Ferrari F50s that were produced. This watch, marked #030, is one of 349 made for F50 owners. Japanese car collector Yoshiyuki Hayashi was the original owner, per the seller. Hayashi reputedly purchased two F50s, and with them received two watches; this one was gifted to the owner of Symbolic International and was recently purchased by the seller, Bill Noon. The box, papers, and watch winder are included in the sale, and the lot is offered at no reserve in San Diego, California.

Girard-Perregaux traces its origins to 1791, when Jean-François Bautte signed his first timepiece in Geneva. Italian architect and rally racer Luigi Macaluso bought the watchmaking company in 1992. Luca di Montezemolo, president of Ferrari from 1991 to 2014, met with Macaluso, and the pair agreed that Ferrari and Girard-Perregaux would begin co-branding watches. In 2004, after eleven years of producing watches with the Ferrari name, Girard-Perregaux moved on from the partnership.

The Pour Ferrari F50 automatic perpetual calendar chronograph was made in conjunction with Piero Ferrari and was available only with a 40 mm precious-metal or white gold case, as with example #030 offered here. As with the car, only 349 pieces were manufactured, available exclusively to the owners of the Ferrari F50. A run of 250 additional pieces that were slightly different from this watch was later manufactured in response to demand from watch collectors who were not F50 owners.

The watch is on a black alligator strap.

The black dial has Arabic numerals and red F50 script.

Certificates, papers, and boxes are photographed in the gallery.

A red winder box with an acrylic cover is also supplied.
