39-Years-Owned 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4

This 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 is one of approximately 500 examples built and is believed to have been delivered new through Canarauto of Ontario, Canada. Following a 1986 repaint in Rosso Chiaro, chassis 15311 was acquired by the seller’s father from Leny’s Garage of Toronto in 1987 and subsequently underwent an interior re-trim and mechanical service as part of refurbishment work completed in 1988. Now showing 37k miles, the 2+2 coupe is powered by a 4.4-liter quad-cam V12 fitted with six Weber carburetors that is mated to a five-speed manual transmission linked with a limited-slip differential. The car rides on 15″ Cromodora alloy wheels and is equipped with power-assisted steering as well as ventilated disc brakes. Inside, black leather–trimmed seats are accompanied by a MOMO steering wheel, a Becker stereo, and air conditioning. This 365 GTC/4 is offered by the seller on behalf of their father in Woodbridge, Ontario, with the removed steering wheel, an owner’s manual, a jack bag, and Ontario registration that lists the car as a 1973 model.

The 365 GTC/4 was produced between late 1971 and early 1973 and shared an assembly line with the GTB/4 Daytona. Its bodywork was designed and manufactured by Carrozzeria Pininfarina utilizing steel and aluminum panels as well as a fiberglass firewall and floor pans. The cars featured pop-up headlights and grille-mounted fog lamps up front along with six taillights out back.

This example is said to have left the factory finished in Rosso Chiaro and been repainted at Centre Hill Auto Body of Ontario, Canada, in 1986. Previous repairs to the left-front and undercarriage of the car are noted by the owner based on an older appraisal. Further details include hood louvers, Pininfarina fender badging, black bumpers, and quad exhaust outlets.

The 15″ Cromodora alloy wheels are secured with Borrani knock-off hubs and mounted with 215/70 Pirelli P5 tires. The 365 GTC/4 featured a four-wheel independent suspension with hydraulic self-leveling rear shocks as well as power-assisted steering and four-wheel disc brakes. The seller states that refurbishment work in 1988 included rebuilding the brake calipers, changing the brake pads, and replacing the front and rear shocks as well as the upper and lower ball joints.

The owner states that the seats were reupholstered and the dashboard was replaced by T&M Custom Trim and Glass of Ontario, Canada, in 1988. The 2+2 cabin features front bucket and individual rear seats trimmed in black leather, while suede-look material covers the dash as well as the center console. The front seats are fitted with adjustable headrests, and the rear units feature fold-down seatbacks. A Becker Mexico AM/FM cassette stereo is connected to Alpine speakers, and a fire extinguisher is affixed to the transmission tunnel in the passenger-side footwell. Further appointments include air conditioning and power windows as well as red carpets and black floor mats.

A MOMO Prototipo steering wheel fronts Veglia Borletti instrumentation including a 180-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring oil pressure and coolant temperature. A clock and additional auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.4-liter Tipo F101 AC 000 V12 features an aluminum block with cast-steel cylinder liners along with aluminum cylinder heads housing dual overhead camshafts. Six Weber 38 DCOE side-draft carburetors are positioned on the outer side of each cylinder bank to allow for a lower hood line. Engine output was rated at 340 horsepower and 318 lb-ft of torque when new. A Crane Cams Fireball XR700 electronic ignition is fitted. According to the seller, work in October 2019 involved servicing the fuel system, replacing the battery, changing the distributor seals, and adjusting the carburetors.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller states that the clutch assembly was replaced as part of the refurbishment work in 1988.

The removed steering wheel is included in the sale along with an owner’s manual and a jack bag that can be viewed in the gallery.
