This 1998 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta was purchased new by its first owner in California and remained under their care until August 2010, when it was purchased by the author Cormac McCarthy. It was then purchased by the seller in 2016 and now shows 19k miles. The car is powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC V8 linked with a paddle-shifted six-speed F1 gearbox and is finished in Black over tan Connolly leather. Equipment includes a Tubi-style exhaust system, 18″ five-spoke magnesium wheels, a removable targa top, a Challenge-style rear grille, pop-up headlights, automatic climate control, a CD stereo, and a remote six-disc CD changer. This F355 Berlinetta is offered with a copy of the window sticker, the owner’s manual, service records, a car cover, a tool kit, a battery tender, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The Pininfarina-designed body is finished in Black and features a removable roof panel, flying buttress C-pillars, a vented engine cover, an integrated rear decklid spoiler, and air intakes on the doors and rocker panels. Further details include pop-up headlights, front fog lights, a Challenge-style rear grille, and quad exhaust outlets.
The 18″ five-spoke magnesium wheels are mounted with Pirelli P Zero tires. A note in the March 2024 service invoice states that the tires show signs of dry rot and have date codes from 2002 and 2004. Ferrari-branded brake calipers are mounted over ventilated discs at each corner.
The cabin features sport seats trimmed in Tan Connolly leather, and matching leather extends to the center console, door panel inserts, and lower half of the dashboard. Amenities include automatic climate control, a CD stereo, a remote six-disc CD changer, and drilled aluminum pedals.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel is equipped with paddle shifters and frames a 200-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, a gauge for coolant temperature, and a digital gear indicator. Ancillary instruments in the center stack include an analog clock and gauges for fuel level and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 19k miles.
The mid-mounted 3.5-liter DOHC V8 features five valves per cylinder and dry-sump lubrication for a factory-rated output of 375 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. It was fitted with a Tubi-style exhaust system under previous ownership. The seller notes that an engine-out belt service was last completed in 2016. The spark plugs were replaced in March 2024, and an entry in the invoice states that the valve cover gaskets are weeping.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an electrohydraulically operated six-speed F1 gearbox.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other damage.
