This 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 is one of approximately 800 examples built during just over three years of production and was manufactured in December 1969. Chassis 13159 is said to have remained under long-term ownership in San Diego until being purchased several years ago by a Southern California collector who initiated a multiyear mechanical refurbishment. The project was revived in 2021 and lasted through its completion in 2022. Work included an overhaul of the 4.4-liter Colombo V12, rebuilds of the triple Weber carburetors and other ancillaries, a reseal of the five-speed manual transmission, and the refinishing of mechanical components. Finished in metallic blue over tan leather, the car features servo-assisted ventilated disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension, power steering, Borrani wire wheels, a quad-outlet ANSA exhaust system, air conditioning, and power windows. The car was purchased by the family of the current owner on BaT in March 2023, and subsequent work by the selling dealer included changing the fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, fuel lines, and fuel pump mounts. This 365 GT 2+2 is now offered on dealer consignment with a tool kit, a jack, and a clean California title.

The 365 GT 2+2 model was introduced at the 1967 Paris Motor Show featuring Pininfarina coachwork with an overall length of almost five meters. This example wears an older repaint in its current shade of metallic blue, and a crack in the finish is visible near the lower left corner of the windshield. Features include split front bumpers with integrated turn signals, rear bumper over-riders, a door-mounted driver-side mirror, and quad exhaust outlets. Other paint chips are noted.

Borrani wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and are wrapped in 215/70VR15 Michelin XWX tires, as is a matching spare housed in the trunk. Stopping is handled by four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with servo assistance, and a replacement master cylinder was installed during the refurbishment that was completed in 2022. Steering input is also assisted, and a reconditioned power steering pump was fitted during the project. Height-adjusable coilovers have been installed in place of the factory rear self-leveling suspension.

The cabin is trimmed in tan leather over 2+2 seating with matching upholstery over the door panels. Black trim covers the door caps, dash, console, and sills, while blue carpeting lines the floors. Additional features include front and rear shoulder belts, a Pininfarina radio blanking plate, power windows, and air conditioning. A replacement air conditioning compressor was installed in 2022. There is wear on the lower section of piping on the driver’s seat.

The wood-spoke steering wheel frames Veglia Borgletti instrumentation that is set in a wood bezel and includes a 180-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring oil temperature, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, approximately 170 of which have been added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown. Auxiliary instruments positioned to the driver’s right include a fuel-level gauge, a clock, and an ammeter.

The 4.4-liter V12 was overhauled during the refurbishment, with work including the replacement of the cylinder liners, pistons, connecting rods, bearings, crankshaft oil-passage plugs, timing chain, and valve guides as well as the installation of hardened valve seats and Megacycle camshafts. Machine work included honing of the cylinders, resurfacing of the cylinder heads, welding repairs to one of the combustion chambers, and resurfacing of the valves. The triple Weber carburetors were also rebuilt, as were the distributors, alternator, starter, and water pump.

The air conditioning compressor was replaced by the selling dealer, and the fuel system was also renewed. An engine-out service in 2026 included an oil change, repairing the oil pickup, and replacing the fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, fuel pump mounts, and fuel lines.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission that was resealed during the refurbishment, which also included resurfacing of the flywheel and replacement of the clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. The differential carrier bearings were also replaced. The drivetrain components and ancillaries were refinished during the project, while hardware was replated. The underside of the frame was cleaned and treated for rust, while the underside of the floor panels were bead-blasted before being rust-treated. The second-gear synchro is described as scratchy around corners.
